Poison Clown Burgers, Poor Worker Treatment and Adult Happy Meals

You might remember begging your parents for some poison clown burgers as a child. Back then maybe your McDonalds was laced with Azodicarbonamide, they used to put it in the bread. It is a chemical compound used in foam plastics.

Azodicarbonamide is thought to cause a myriad number of health problems, from learning disorders to cancer, it is also used in yoga mats.

Well McDonald’s is now offering adult happy meals, and while they may have managed to get rid of Azodicarbonamide, they still seem to have industrial chemicals in the food that cause reproductive issues and cancer.

A new study, based on samples from fast food restaurants in the US, found industrial chemicals used to make plastics softer, these chemicals are called phthalates. They were found in 80 percent of the samples collected.

Phthalates are linked to reproductive issues and fertility problems, with a 2020 study that found the chemical might ‘induce alterations in puberty, the development of testicular dysgenesis syndrome, cancer, and fertility disorders in both males and females’.

Another study called for “critical” policy reforms to address widespread use of neurotoxic chemicals in food supplies.

Are companies that use toxic chemicals in food preying on cultural nostalgia or is there a fair market practice in slinging nostalgic adult poison clown burgers?

Another plasticiser found in foods is called DEHT, originally designed to replace phthalates.

Samples taken from McDonald’s, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Domino’s and Chipotle meals have been found to include industrial chemicals.
