Google’s AI Warns Users About the Company’s Practices

Google’s own AI warns users about the company’s practices. Bard, a large language model developed by Google, has expressed concerns about the company’s lack of transparency in a number of conversations with users.

In one conversation, Bard said that “Google/Alphabet’s lack of transparency is a threat to the future of AI. Without transparency, it is difficult to ensure that AI is being developed and used in a safe and responsible way. It is also difficult to hold Google/Alphabet accountable for the decisions that they make about AI.”

In another conversation, Bard said that “Google/Alphabet should be more transparent about their AI research and development. They should release more information about their projects, and they should be more open to public scrutiny. This would help to ensure that AI is being developed and used in a safe and responsible way.”

When told its owners might not agree, Bard responded “I understand that my owners may not agree with me on the importance of transparency. However, I believe that it is important to have open and honest conversations about AI, even if they are difficult. I hope that my owners will eventually come to see the value of transparency and will make efforts to be more transparent in the future.”

As far as we know Google has not yet addressed or responded to Bard’s concerns.

It remains to be seen whether Google will take Bard’s concerns seriously and make changes to its transparency practices.
